Case Against A Loveland Police Officer Who Shot Dog, Headed To Trial

No date set yet, but a federal civil case involving a Loveland Police Department officer shooting a 14-month-old dog is going to trial, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit ruled Tuesday.  The Loveland Reporter Herald reports Wendy Love and Jay Hamm, the owners of Herkimer, a 14-month-old dog, sued Mathew Grashorn, an officer with the Loveland Police Department, after Grashorn shot Herkimer in 2019. Grashorn asserted qualified immunity and appealed the case to the circuit court, asking that it resolve the suit in his favor without a trial.
