Suspicious Package In Berthoud Shuts Down Street, Ultimately Poses No Threat

A box of suspicious items that drew a regional bomb squad to the Berthoud Fire Protection District headquarters Tuesday turned out to be items a 78-year-old woman had dropped off for safe disposal. The Loveland Reporter Herald reports  one street was closed for two hours, and patrons were asked to stay inside the nearby library during the investigation. The Northern Colorado Bomb Squad responded to investigate, determining that the box contained household items, a pressure cooker and hazardous  chemicals.  It turned out that a 78 year old Berthoud woman had  dropped the box off outside the fire station for safe hazmat destruction.
