First Christian Church announced on Thursday that it is withdrawing its application for a zoning change to bring a 24-hour homeless facility to its property at 2000 N. Lincoln Ave. According to the Loveland Reporter Herald, First Christian Pastor Michael Stein said that the decision came in the wake of Loveland City Council’s vote in December to table a public hearing on the zoning change until a formal impact study could be completed. The city’s inaction was also cited as a factor in a decision by Homeward Alliance to disband its Loveland Homelessness Task Force, which worked with Stein to bring the shelter to fruition.
