WINDSOR, CO. – The Colorado Eagles, proud affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche, announced Tuesday that they have signed forward Joey Ratelle for the 2017-18 season. The 21 year-old rookie enjoyed a five-year career in the QMJHL, where he posted 113 goals and 95 assists in 285 games with the Drummondville Voltigeurs and Chicoutimi Sagueneens. Ratelle notched new career-highs in goals (41), assists (36), points (77) and penalty minutes (113) in 62 games last season with the Voltigeurs and Sagueneens.
“Joey was an elite player at the junior level and a captain for his club,” said Eagles head coach Aaron Schneekloth. “He’s a player with a high compete level and has nice touch around the net, so we’re excited to see him step on the ice and translate his success at the junior level to the pro game.”
The 5-foot-10, 180-pound winger collected 20 or more goals in three of his five seasons in the QMJHL, including a breakout year during the 2014-15 campaign when he registered 33 goals and 19 assists in 66 games with Drummondville. Ratelle spent the 2016-17 season as the captain of the Voltigeurs after serving as an alternate captain in the previous two seasons.
The 2017-18 regular season home schedule kicks off on Friday, October 13th when the Eagles host the Utah Grizzlies. A complete schedule can be found at www.ColoradoEagles.com.
