With Saturday’s loss to McNeese in the rear-view mirror, a look ahead to this coming weekend’s matchup with South Dakota was part of my weekly chat with Brady Hull on “The Hull Show” earlier today. The segment can be found below.
Some stray thoughts:
- Adjustments were key in each team’s initial game. For UNC, the biggest adjustments came on defense, as the Bears effectively shut down McNeese and limited the Cowboys to one offensive TD. For South Dakota, the adjustments were made the other way as Kansas State’s defense held USD without points in the second half.
- Penalties: UNC needs to limit theirs, though a couple of big, game changing ones this past Saturday looked on replay to be borderline or phantom. South Dakota, meanwhile, was the beneficiary of 13 Kansas State penalties for 129 yards.
- The Coyotes cracked the Top 25 by virtue of their effort this past weekend. McNeese, meanwhile, moved up to #14 in the coaches poll after besting UNC.
UNC travels Friday morning to Sioux Falls/Vermillion ahead of a 1:00pm MT kickoff Saturday.
