For the third consecutive week, the Bears found themselves having dug an early grave, eventually falling 35-14.
No, I don’t mean “hole”.
“Grave” is the correct term to use for a football team that appears to lose any confidence it has the moment something goes wrong.
It’s as if this team has become gun-shy, given the bad luck this season has brought.
On Saturday, two early interceptions quickly turned into two scores for Portland State, and UNC wouldn’t be able to put points up until late for the second week in a row.
The deadly mistake was the first pick, as Northern Colorado had driven into the red zone and Conor Regan was attempting to hit Alex Wesley, but underthrew the ball. Portland State turned that into points after a 99 yard drive.
With the season down to four games, two at home, the push to win something keeps building…which isn’t healthy pressure to be dealing with. Next up is Northern Arizona this Saturday at Nottingham Field, a team that has had its own issues this season with bad luck. Aaron Rath & I will hit the air at 11:05am with “Blue and Gold Gameday.”
