Final Honor Flight Northern Colorado sends veterans to D.C.

The final Honor Flight Northern Colorado took off on Sunday. Hundreds of people, many carrying American flags, stood along the roadside to wave off the veterans for the final flight. The program is shutting down after taking these last 120 or so veterans to see their memorials in Washington DC. They’ve flown more than 3,000 veterans to the nation’s capital since it began in 2008. The group’s founder, Stan Cass, died unexpectedly in April. He’d said that it was his goal to send as many World War II veterans as possible to see their national monument.
