Denver police are searching for the driver who left the scene of a deadly accident on late Saturday. Officials say it happened at East Evans Avenue and South Williams street; a car hit a motorcycle and sped away. The male driver of the bike was seriously injured, while the female passenger died at the scene. At this time, there is no description of the vehicle or suspect. Poudre School District has decided to spend the $20 million of COVID-19 relief money. This is the third round of funding for education that was allocated to let the district spend it in however it wants. The Coloradoan reports that minus the predetermined amounts going to the charter schools, PSD has 15.5 million dollars. School officials say that they plan to spend the funds on academics, the continuation of operations, and health and safety.

West Nile virus was found in a mosquito in Northeast Fort Collins. Due to the forecast of wind and rain the spraying was rescheduled for Sunday and Wednesday nights.

More details have been released about the fifth suspect in connection with a deadly crime spree in Denver earlier this month. Police say Samuel Fussell was arrested Wednesday night in Greeley. It was a joint operation between Greeley Police, the ATF, and Denver Safe Streets. He is facing charges of suspicion of first-degree murder and other charges. Four others were arrested last week in connection with the series of crimes, including a shooting that left an 18-year-old student dead.

Eighth Judicial District Attorney cleared a Larimer County Sheriff’s deputies involved in a July shooting in Berthoud, saying they acted lawfully in their use of force. The incident happened back in late July; deputies responded to the call of a driver under the influence at Second Street and Welch Avenue in Berthoud. At some point, there was an exchange of gunfire; no deputies were injured, the suspect was hit in the shoulder.

Coloradans will get to vote on whether they would like to see the state’s property tax rate reduced. The Secretary of State’s Office says it has certified that Initiative 27 has enough signatures to appear on the ballot in November. The proposal would reduce the residential property tax rate to six-point-five percent and drop the commercial property tax rate to just over 26-percent.
