Hickenlooper exercising veto power more than previously

Governor John Hickenlooper set a new record for vetoes in a year in his final year in office.

Yesterday, the governor most notably rejected a measure that would have provided access to medical marijuana for people with autism.

Hickenlooper also vetoed bills that would have allowed publicly traded corporations to invest in marijuana business, loosened requirements for counties to publish financial information in newspapers, and exempted private planes from sales taxes. The measure dealing with financial info in newspapers had been introduced during the session by Greeley-based State Senator John Cooke.

In all, the governor vetoed nine measures from the 2018 legislative session.
