New lawsuit filed over asphalt plant in Weld County
The Weld County Board of Commissioners faces a new lawsuit over its approval of an asphalt plant along Highways 257 and 14. The Water Supply and Storage Company says runoff from the plant could contaminate their water, which is used to irrigate about 40,000 acres of farmland. And the company argues in their lawsuit that commissioners denied Water Supply due process when they allowed the asphalt plant’s owner to make changes to their runoff plans, after the public comment period ended.
