3/8/18: Reno, Day Three – Women’s Preview

The third day in Reno brings us the second round of women’s games, including top-seeded Northern Colorado’s opener against 8th-seeded Montana. The Griz moved into this round behind an 87-80 win over Sacramento State Monday in the tournament’s first game, but come in with only two wins in their final eight of the season. UNC won both meetings in the regular season, and I’m interested to see how the Bears come out today after being in Reno since Sunday night waiting for their turn on the court.

Yesterday’s day off for the women marked the second award announcement date for the Big Sky, and, to no one’s surprise, UNC’s Kamie Ethridge was named the Coach of the Year. The Bears have already set the school’s single season record for wins and have 20+ for the third time in Ethridge’s four seasons. Add in the first outright regular season title, and what Ethridge and her staff have accomplished in four years is tremendous. Given her desire to turn this program into a mid-major power, this program is in great hands.

I’ll have the call on the Bears Digital Network today, starting just before 1:00 MT.
