UNC employees victims of a hack
A dozen University of Northern Colorado employees have had their personal information stolen by hackers. The school sent out a note saying they found the intrusion on the university’s self-service portal. Social Security numbers of 12 employees had their accounts accessed and their W-2 forms downloaded. UNC’s IT department believes that the criminals are planning to file fraudulent tax returns. The Social Security numbers were stolen outside of the university. The school says no student acounts were compromised. A criminal investigation is underway.
