New bill aims to cut down on county costs for publishing reports
A new bill in the state Senate aims to cut down on costs for local government. Sen. John Cooke has proposed a bill that requires county governments to publish expense and salary reports annually. Under current law, the county is required to publish expense reports once a month and salaries twice a year in a local newspaper. His bill would instead require the county to list that information on their website. He says the change would save taxpayers thousands every year.
