Voters making some tough choices in yesterday’s election. One of the big ones…a property tax hike to fund schools. After asking for nearly a decade, voters finally appoved the mill levy override for District 6, passing it 59 to 41%. Superintendent Deirdre Pilch gave a teary victory speech and promised that work would begin today. The mill levy override is expected to bring in about $14 million per year for the next seven years. All that money will go toward security, transportation, and new academic programs, plus increase pay for teachers and staff.
