Richard Dreyfuss' son claims Kevin Spacey "groped" him
(LOS ANGELES) — Richard Dreyfuss’ son, Harry Dreyfuss, is the latest person to accuse actor Kevin Spacey of sexual misconduct, claiming the Oscar-wininng actor “groped” him.
In an essay for BuzzFeed News, Harry claims that in 2008, he accompanied his father to Spacey’s apartment, where the elder Dreyfuss was rehearsing lines for the play Complicit, which Spacey was directing.
While there, Harry — then 18 years old — alleges that the House of Cards star, unbeknownst to his dad, put his hand on his thigh.
He recalls the three of them moved into his living room to read the script, adding, “Kevin and I sat on his couch. [He] was sitting extremely close to me.”
“Finally (finally, finally) I became suspicious,” Harry continues. “It took that long because it just never occurred to me that Kevin would be interested in me in the first place. He was an adult man, a hero of mine, my dad’s boss, none of which were categories on my radar for sexual interactions.”
“Besides,” he explains, “I thought, ‘Surely he can’t be coming on to me like this right in front of my dad.’ But his hand stayed there.”
Harry claims he tried to move away twice, but Spacey followed him and put his hand back on the teen’s thigh.
Harry says he didn’t mention the incident to his dad for many years, but told the story, “at parties for laughs” until college, when he learned of others who allegedly had similar experiences with Spacey.
After Harry shared the article on Twitter, the 70-year-old Jaws star tweeted a message of support for his son.
“I love my son @harrydreyfuss more than I could explain with all the words in the world. And I am so incredibly proud of him right now,” wrote Dreyfuss.
