Broncos rookie QB Kyle Sloter: ‘This is just another obstacle’
Broncos coach Vance Joseph revealed on Monday that the team will only carry two quarterbacks — Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch — on the 53-man roster. That means undrafted free agent fan favorite Kyle Sloter is going to be cut.
Perhaps in response to that news, Sloter tweeted this:
Sloter switched from quarterback to wide receiver and back to quarterback again during his time at Southern Miss and Nothern Colorado in college. Though he had many ups and downs throughout his college career, Sloter kept on working and ended up in the NFL.
Now that he’s learned he won’t make Denver’s final roster, he’s going to continue working. His relentless determination will likely help him land on a 10-man practice squad, or perhaps on another team’s active roster.
Sloter (6-4, 218 pounds) completed 12 of his 13 passes for 144 passing yards and one touchdown against the Bears and 49ers. His preseason passer rating of 138.5 ranks seventh among all NFL quarterbacks.
In related Broncos rookie quarterback news, Chad Kelly may spend the 2017 season on injured reserve.
