New Bright Futures program offers grant money for students to go to college

A new grant program will help Weld County students go to college. During their meeting Tuesday, county commissioners unveiled the Weld County Bright Future program at Aims Community College. The program will give nearly every high school grad a $3,000 grant for up to four years to attend college. People with a GED or military members who were honorably discharged can also qualify for the grant money. Applications will be available starting later this fall, but the money won’t be awarded until next Fall 2016. Commissioners say the goal of the grant program is to make sure Weld County has a well-educated, thriving workforce in the future.
